David Anderson, Vice President of Sales and Marketing, and Megan Hopkins, Sales and Marketing Manager, share insights into Dover Chemical\u2019s foundation, operations, and vision for the future. David says: \u201cThe company was founded 58 years ago, and ICC, headquartered in New York, acquired it in 1975.\u201d He breaks the business into three core units: plastic additives, chemical intermediates, and oilfield and lubricant products.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n Both geography and chemistry shape manufacturing at Dover Chemical. David explains that the Dover, Ohio, site focuses on chlorine and phosphorus-based chemistry, while the Hammond, Indiana, site specializes in sulfurization. It acquired the Hammond facility from Farrow Corporation in 2003. Its location near Chicago gives easy access to key industry networks, while Dover, Ohio, sits conveniently along Interstate 77. Together, these two sites form the backbone of production, supporting customers across North America and around the world.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n The structure shapes Dover Chemical\u2019s market reach. David shares: \u201cAbout 75 percent of our business stays in North America, and about 25 percent is export.\u201d The team is working to grow its export share by building strategic partnerships and expanding its global presence.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n Dover Chemical\u2019s diverse product portfolio supports a wide range of end markets. Chemical intermediates go into coatings, adhesives, sealants, and elastomers for industrial and infrastructure uses \u2013 think traffic markings and other demanding projects. Plastic additives help stabilize polymers, so customers can maintain material performance over extended use cycles. David uses consumer packaging as an example: \u201cYou want that color to stay vibrant on the shelf for as long as possible.\u201d The oilfield and lubricants unit supports drilling fluids for both onshore and offshore work, as well as natural gas and metalworking fluids for steel cutting, automotive, and heavy vehicle production.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n Building on its strong foundation in polymer additives, Dover Chemical recently expanded its Doverphos\u00ae LGP-12 platform into a broader suite of solutions addressing food-contact packaging, processing efficiency, and recycling performance. At the core is Doverphos\u00ae LGP-12, a high-molecular-weight polymeric phosphite antioxidant designed for low migration and regulatory confidence in food-contact applications. The platform also includes DoverClear\u2122, a PFAS-free, silicone-free line of process aids and gel reducers that improve surface quality, reduce die-lip buildup, and enhance film clarity in extrusion processes. Introduced in 2025, DoverCycle\u2122 extends the platform into recycling, helping converters incorporate higher levels of recycled content while maintaining melt-flow stability, clarity, and overall material performance. Together, the expanded LGP-12 platform reflects Dover Chemical\u2019s shift toward integrated additive solutions that support circular-economy goals and evolving global packaging regulations. Megan adds that the platform approach allows Dover Chemical to address multiple challenges simultaneously, from food-contact compliance to recyclability and processing efficiency.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n Dover Chemical\u2019s technology transformation goes far beyond new product platforms. David explains that it is constantly introducing automation into manufacturing and exploring AI across multiple functions. \u201cWe\u2019re leveraging AI in marketing, customer service, finance, and manufacturing to improve internal processes and decision-making,\u201d he says. Dover Chemical invests in intellectual property around LGP-12 polymeric additive technology and scales production from pilot to commercial levels to support global rollouts. The expanded LGP-12 platform anchors a materials innovation program, supporting applications in modern packaging, recycled plastics, and sustainability-driven manufacturing.<\/span> <\/span><\/p>\n\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n <\/p>\n\n\n\n Sustainability sits at the heart of Dover Chemical\u2019s approach. David explains that the LGP-12 platform is designed to address concerns about food-contact packaging and reduce risks associated with current market chemistries. Both US sites run environmental programs to manage emissions and raise internal standards, and Dover Chemical participates in EcoVadis.
